Privacy Policy

We keep this notice short on purpose. It covers what we ask for, why we ask for it, how long a message stays on file, and how to have it corrected or removed. Anything not covered here is handled by our Cookie Policy, which sits alongside this page as part of the same notice.

Information we collect

When you submit the contact form, we collect the information you enter, which typically includes your name, email address, and the content of your message. We also receive standard technical data generated by your browser, such as pages requested and the date and time of the request.

We do not ask for payment details, and this site does not process orders or transactions. If you write to correct a detail in a published post — a menu item name, an opening time, a regional note about a late-night waffle house stop — the message you send is the only personal data involved in that exchange.

  • What you type into the form. Name, email address, and the body of your message — nothing more is required to send it.
  • What your browser sends. The page requested, the time of the request, and basic device information used to serve the site correctly.
  • What we never ask for. Card numbers, bank details, or any payment information. There is no checkout on this site.

A message is read by a person, not a queue. That is why the form asks for so little.

How we use information

Two kinds of data, two purposes, and nothing else layered on top.

Reading and answering your message

Every submission is read to understand what you are asking. When a message points out a mistake in a published page, we check it against the source we relied on and, if it holds up, correct the page.

Verifying corrections before publishing

Corrections are compared against the material we cite, so a change is made only when the evidence supports it. We may reply to ask a follow-up question before editing anything.

Keeping the site running

Technical data helps us spot broken pages, trace errors, and see which articles people actually read — menu guides, regional notes, or the breakfast staples archive.

No advertising profiles

We do not build advertising profiles from your reading, and we do not sell or rent information about who reads which post.

Retention

Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to handle the request and to maintain a record of corrections made to published pages.

Technical logs are retained for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated. Once a set of logs is aggregated, it no longer identifies a single visitor and is kept only as traffic totals.

Effective date

4 October 2026

No payment details, no order processing

The form on this site collects a name, an email address, and a message. Nothing is bought, reserved, or charged through this website.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Information is shared only with service providers that host or support the site, and only to the extent necessary for those functions.

Those providers keep the site online, deliver email, and store backups. They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use what they process for their own purposes. We may also disclose information where required by law.

A correction sent to us about a published menu guide or regional note may be summarised in the page itself, but your name and email address are not published with it.
